Choosing the Right Ganesh Idol Size for Your Home or Pandal
The most common booking mistake is choosing a size from a photograph. Idols look smaller in a workshop full of them and much larger once they are in your living room. Use your space, not the photo.
4 to 8 inches — shelves, desks and small altars
These sit comfortably in an existing puja shelf and need only a bucket for immersion. They are also the practical choice if you travel with the idol or want one for an office desk.
10 to 14 inches — the standard home Ganesha
This is the range most Hyderabad families choose. It has real presence on a floor mandap, still fits a household drum at visarjan, and one person can carry it. Our 10 inch idols are also offered in a finer Kolkata-clay finish.
18 inches to 2.8 feet — living halls and joint families
Choose this range when the idol is the centre of a decorated mandap and several families gather for aarti. Allow at least a foot of clearance on each side for decoration and for the aarti plate.
3 to 4 feet — apartment lobbies and clubhouses
Measure the lift or the doorway before booking. A 4 feet idol on a base often will not fit a standard lift, and carrying it up stairs needs three people and a clear path.
5 to 7 feet — street pandals and associations
These are commissioned months in advance because the clay needs weeks of shade drying. Confirm your pandal height, the platform width and the lane access for the delivery vehicle when you book.
